Osaka Training Camp Guide

Osaka Castle

Osaka is a major Japanese city, home to a population of approximately 8.8 million and attracting more than 7 million foreign tourists a year.
Since ancient times, Osaka has been a bustling international hub of people, goods, and cultures. Today, it welcomes visitors from around the world through its gateway of Kansai International Airport.

Osaka is a regular site of international competitions in sports such as track and field, swimming, tennis, and cycling. At the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan, a number of games were played in Higashiosaka at Hanazono Rugby Stadium, known as the mecca of Japanese rugby.
Osaka has also been the longtime site of the Japan Para Swimming Championships and a Grand Tournament in the traditional Japanese sport of sumo.

Osaka has served as a training camp location for various countries’ sports teams: in swimming for South Africa, Japan, and the United Kingdom; in track and field for the United States; and in soccer for Japan. Three reasons to choose Osaka for training camps:

REASON 1 Optimal infrastructure for Olympic-level events and pre-event training camps

Osaka has world-class sports venues, plenty of experience hosting international competitions and national team training camps, and a wealth of fully equipped training facilities.

REASON 2 Convenient access from within Japan or from around the world

Operating 24-7, Kansai International Airport is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Tokyo’s Narita Airport and about 1 hour from central Osaka.
From Osaka, it takes only about an hour to get to nearby cities such as Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe.

REASON 3 Renowned Osaka hospitality wherever you go

Osaka’s many international hotel chains ensure a comfortable stay. There are lots of things to see and do, including tourist attractions such as Universal Studios Japan, shopping, shrines and temples, natural scenery, hands-on cultural experiences, and Japanese and world cuisine.

We look forward to seeing you in Osaka.
